
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young 19 February 1970)[1She is an American actor, producer, and performer, most well-known for her performance as Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). She won this year's Critics' choice Television Award as the top supporting actress on the drama series. In 2019, she was a part of the cast in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young's acting journey began as a stage actress. She made her Broadway debut in the year 1997 in the role of Mary in The Life's original ensemble. The Off-Broadway roles include in Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) and Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). In 1995, she made her television debut with a role that she reprised on"The Other World," an NBC daytime soap drama Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. The year 1997 was the same and in 1998 she was a guest on two episodes in the show Law & Order. Her first film appearance was in 1999 , when she appeared as the role of the crime thriller Black and White. She later starred in other independent films. In the early 2000s she was spotted in guest-starring roles on a number of television comedies and dramas including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young featured on over 30 television programs between 2000 and 2011.
